Sustainability and human-centric design are our core principles. Thinking up, rethinking and innovating is our innermost being.

Our Mission

As a leader in the seamless acoustic industry, we believe in creating innovative products that not only enhance sound quality but also contribute to a greener future. We strive to make a positive impact on the environment with every product we create.  While we recognize that sustainability is a process rather than a destination, we are committed to always improving and doing our part. We are committed to the measures we’re taking to decrease our carbon footprint, employ environmentally friendly materials, and create a better future. We know that there is always room for improvement, but we are inspired and motivated to make a difference and do better every day.

Any solution must be as natural as possible to be compatible with the environment and health. There is a responsibility to produce thoughtfully when developing an acoustical product that examines the connection between improved acoustics and human wellbeing. The potential health and environmental impacts of raw material sourcing, production, distribution, and construction or renovation waste are all being considered.

Our Mission.

Materials matter

BASWA aims to lead product development with plant fibres, recycled glass and marble sand, organic binders, and minimal synthetic materials. Our BASWA acoustic solutions are composed of up to 94% recycled and natural based but also waste materials from other production processes, with future plans to incorporate even more plant-based components.

To be truly sustainable, a company must actively manage its impact on the environment and climate.

BASWA Marble Acoustic Plaster

Nature-Inspired Acoustic Solutions

The use of marble sand to create microporous surfaces is upcycling in its most natural form. This is because the sand produced during marble production is otherwise wasted. Marble sand has a subtle beauty and sophistication that gives it a special character, and we recognised this early on. Our BASWA Phon and BASWA DTG acoustic panels are made from up to 80% recycled glass, reducing not only landfill waste but also the demand for new raw materials. Because of renewable and locally generated electricity from hydropower and photovoltaic panels, the production processes of the acoustic panels are designed to utilize less energy and emit less greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, we use only water instead of solvents in our products, which helps to keep harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) out of the atmosphere. We are committed to providing products that are safe for both our customers and the environment.

Hemp for acoustic solutions

Acoustics in Harmony with Hemp

Hemp is a true powerhouse in the world of sustainable building materials. This is why hemp fibers are used in our BASWA Natural acoustic panel. Not only does it store massive amounts of CO2, but it’s also incredibly efficient, with the potential to be harvested and replanted multiple times a year. In addition to its carbon sequestration capabilities, hemp is naturally resistant to pests, meaning it can be grown without the use of harmful pesticides. Aside from environmental considerations, hemp has a variety of advantages as a building material. It is sturdy and long-lasting, making it perfect for building. It’s also mold and fire resistant, making it a safer choice for spaces. BASWA Natural fully exploits hemp’s amazing characteristics by processing all fibers, from the stalk to the leaves, to offer a genuinely sustainable acoustic solution. And, because hemp is a quickly renewable resource, our panels are better for the environment and more sustainable for future generations.

Produced and engineered in Switzerland

Our products are manufactured and engineered in the heart of Switzerland.  Furthermore, we are committed to using renewable energy sources. We obtain all of our electricity from 100% hydroelectric power, which is both climate-neutral and does not cause any CO2 emissions. Hydropower is an important building block in the fight against climate change, and we are proud to support this sustainable energy source. We exclusively source our raw materials in Switzerland and our neighboring countries. This not only ensures short transport routes and supply chains, but also significantly reduces CO2 emissions. We recognize that transportation is a significant contributor to climate change and take steps to reduce our carbon footprint whenever possible.

Packaging of our products

To further reduce our impact on the environment, we offer our customers the option to order some of our products in cardboard boxes instead of plastic buckets. This not only reduces the amount of plastic waste generated, but also increases the delivery quantity per pallet by more than 50%, and reduces the delivery weight by more than 50%, making transport much more sustainable. We aim to offer more of our acoustic coatings in this sustainable form in the future. Our sample boxes and cardboard packaging are made of approximately 86% recycled wastepaper. Furthermore, our new buckets are now composed of 80% recycled plastic materials. We understand that reducing waste is crucial to protecting the environment, and we make sure to use materials that can be easily recycled.

Committed to a Greener Tomorrow

As we look towards the future, we will continue to focus on using renewable and recycled raw materials as well as minimal energy consumption from the start in new product development projects. We recognize the importance of reducing our energy and water consumption to an absolute minimum, and we are committed to continually improving our processes to achieve this goal. We will also continue to prioritize waste reduction and minimize waste in all of our manufacturing processes. This includes reducing waste from our manufacturing processes and finding ways to reuse and recycle waste whenever possible. As part of our commitment to the circular economy, we will continuously optimize our product life cycles and support better recycling and reuse of waste materials. To achieve our sustainability goals, we will continuously optimize our supply chains and work closely with our suppliers to ensure that they meet our high demands in terms of sustainability. We will also use sustainable packaging whenever possible to reduce our environmental impact.

At BASWA, we believe that sustainability is a journey, not a destination. We will continue to work hard to reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainable practices throughout our industry.
